The Australian Energy Market Commission is the rule maker and developer for the nation's energy markets. As a national, independent body it makes and amend the detailed rules for the National Electricity Market and elements of natural gas markets. The group also provides strategic and operational advice to the Council of Australian Governments' Ministerial Council on Energy.
The COAG Energy Reform Implementation Group (ERIG) fits in to the broad directions set by COAG, and has to report to COAG before the end of 2006 with detailed implementation arrangements for the national transmission grid.
The Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) and the European Regulators’ Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG) are two organisations established for the cooperation of the independent energy regulators of Europe. Both organisations pursue the same overall aim of facilitating the creation of a single, competitive, efficient and sustainable internal market for gas and electricity in Europe.
